Say Hello to Chef Patricia Alvarez-Burdette, chef de cuisine over at Mr. Peeples Seafood & Steakhouse, and her beautiful family. Patricia and Vic, who is a line cook over at Caracol, try and find time out of their busy work schedules to cook with Patricia's daughters as often as possible. For this feature I was invited to their Sunday night dinner. Patricia with the help of Vic and her daughters prepared some pan roasted chicken (seasoned with salt, pepper, smoked paprika and garlic) scented with herbs (rosemary and thyme) and onions, grilled short ribs, grilled sweet Texas corn, Jasmine rice with sautéed onions, garlic and seasoned with salt. As much as I'd like to say it looks easy to make, I think the credit goes to Patricia and Vic for making it look easy and taste amazing.
While preparing the food Patricia's daughters took turn helping with the prep and cooking but what they were doing in between taking turns is what blew me away (beside the food, of course!). Every few minutes Ava, the younger of the two, would sneak off to her room and draw on her dry erase board. I only noticed what she was doing about halfway through our shoot and I quickly snapped a picture of her in the midst of her project. A few minutes later she came running out of her room and told me I just had to make sure I took a picture of her and her project before I left, which I promised to do. For anyone who has been following this blog knows that each post ends with the chef and their kitchen. While this post does have this picture included with the set, I just had to include the art the girls created and post a picture of myself with the two little artist at the end of the post.
Hope everyone enjoys looking through the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them. Don't forget to leave a comment at the bottom letting Patricia, her daughters, and Vic know what you think of their Sunday dinner.
